Commissioned Portraits

Every portrait is painted in high-quality oil paint on linen and sealed with varnish to ensure it lasts for generations. Oil paintings take approximately 6 months to fully cured but can be handled carefully when dry to the touch. Review my process below and get in touch.

Portrait Pricing

Commissions are priced by the square inch. Rates will vary slightly due to number of subjects and complexity. Price includes initial consultation with the client and photo shoot with the subject(s), travel and shipping costs (if needed) are extra.

    • 8” × 10” panel = $2,500

    • 9” x 12” panel = $2,800

    • 11” x 14” canvas = $3,000

    • 12 × 16” canvas = $3,500

    • 16” x 20” canvas = $4,800

    • 18” x 24” canvas = $6,250

    • 20” x 24” canvas = $7,000

    • 22 × 28” canvas = $8,600

    • 24” x 30” canvas = $9,500

    • 24 × 36” canvas = $12,000

    • 30 “ x 36” canvas = $14,000

    • 20 × 40” canvas = $15,000

    • 30” x 48” canvas = $17,200

    • 36” x 48” canvas = $20,700

    • 40” x 48” canvas = $22,000

The Portrait Process

Initial Consultation

The following is determined":

  • Subject - Number of Subjects

  • Location - Interior or Exterior

  • Dress - Formal or Informal

  • Pose - Head & SHoulders, ¾ or Full Body

Photo Session

Once a location is selected, the subject (in approved dress) will pose for a series of photos. A photo (or a combination of) is selected for the portrait painting.

Photos with 2 or more subjects or a pet will require the hiring of a photo assistant at an additional fee.

Delivery

Shipping costs and travel expenses are in addition to the cost of the portrait. Currently, the client is responsible for framing the final portrait. However, I can refer clients to a local frame shop for custom framing.

Deposit

An initial deposit of 50% is required at the sitting. The deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due at completion.
